Reflection

The information that I have learned in ETEC544 has been rich and engaging. During the ten week program, I was able to implement instructional design methods to create a training program. The course began with the definition of instructional design and explanations of the different learning theories, like behaviorism, constructivism and cognitivism. One of my favorite and most challenging of all topics, was analysis and the different types of analysis that exist, like people items, literature base and document recover, in order to answer the who, what and how. The next steps were design and developing, which started to give life to our ideas. Lastly, I learned the implementation and evaluations phases of instructional design. My learning this quarter is related to my future profession as an educator. The weekly assignments allowed me to understand the process of creating effective instructional design. There is more to instructional design than simply creating a lesson plan based off of a textbook. By requiring us to go through the process of instructional design in depth, I was able to receive firsthand experience. This experience will allow me to identify a problem and go through a structured process that will allow me to create effective instructional material. It will be a useful method, especially for me, since I have no previous experience in teaching.
