ETEC 501: Foundations of E-Learning​

  • I learned how to create and design my own blog website. To create this website I had to use the resources that were available to me through Wordpress. For this course weekly assignments were posted on our blog website and we had to manage our website by posting weekly and responding to comments. 

ETEC 537: Computer Based Technology In Education I​

  • Sway

  • The purpose of this assignment was to create a presentation that explains differentiation and personalized learning. Sway allowed me to create a presentation that was different and interesting. I learned how to choose layouts, add google images and YouTube videos that I believed were relevant to the topic.

  • CANVA

  • For this assignment I had to create a brochure/flyer/webpage to promote a digital age learning classroom focused on creativity and innovation and college and career readiness. I decided to use Canva to create a flyer. With Canva I was able to explore the different tools and design options, play around with images, fonts, shapes and colors. 

  • POWTOON

  • The requirement for this assignment was to create and info-commercial to promote digital citizenship and inform individuals of copyright laws. With Powtoon I was able to create a video that was informative and engaging. Throughout the process of creating this video I learned how to add and edit text, figures, transitions, and audio. 

ETEC 648: E-Learning Delivery and Assessment

  • ​​Lucidchart

  • In this course I had to create a website based on a topic of interest. I chose to create a website for those struggling with basic math skills, such as order of operations, integers and fractions. Students would have the freedom to navigate the website at their own pace and go through lesson plans. To create this website during the design and development phase, I used Lucidchart to create flow charts to plan out the overview of the website design and lesson plan overview. I also used Lucidchart to create storyboards. Lucidchart allowed me to choosee for a variety of templates and make the necessary changes to suit my needs. For example, changing colors, editing text, adding images, adjusting arrows, etc. 

ETEC 676D: Advanced Topics in Instructional Technology

  • ​​​Scratch

  • In this course I had to create five small projects with Scratch. It is a block- based programming language, that gives learners a basic understanding of coding. Coding can be tedious and I had to pay attention to the smallest of details. I learned the basics of Scratch coding language, for example, making items interactive, create transitions, have images positioned in specific spots, play sounds at the right time, include special effects, dialogue, create a quiz that keeps score of right and wrong answers, and have certain actions in a loop.

  • ​​​Screencast-o-matic

  • For the final project we had to utilize Screencast-o-matic to screen record my laptop screen and present my final project for the course. It was my first time using this program so I had to learn how to position the recording to just record my project and not my entire screen, also how to include audio and how to pause, record and save.

  • Xcode

  • In Xcode I had to learn a new coding language. I learned how to create an app and a calculator. In order to create these two projects, I had to learn how to create variables, include loops, create multiple interfaces, add buttons, add functions to buttons, adjust colors and shapes, add images and shapes, and program the app to do math computations. 

REFLECTION

Of all focuses in this instructional design and technology program, my favorite has been building my tech skills. Trying out different programs and creating material allows my ideas to come to life. I enjoy being given a task and making it a functional product. Also, it is beneficial to have basic tech skills to create content and material for my future career. Whether it is for my classroom or creating and planning a training program, knowing to create content is an advantage. Having tech skills allows you to create something that best fits your needs and your learner's needs.
